Today's post is a fun creative activity that I do every year with my students. Its one of those big deal occasions where parents come visit the classroom and it's fun to watch as they go all out on this activity. Im going to show you how to make a basket using a juice carton.

Materials: Now remember I'm using what I have access to, your materials to use and decorate with may be different.

  • Juice carton: empty and washed out.

  • Scissors

  • Ruler

  • Markers

  • Glue

  • Any paper or materials you have access to and can use to decorate.

Directions:

1) Preparing the box. Using a ruler and marker you're going to create the lines to guide you where to cut.

Looking at this picture, you can see where I used the ruler to make the handle bars. You can also see how I drew lines around the midpoint of the carton.

2) Cut along the lines using the scissor. Use the picture below as a guide.

The vertical lines you drew are the handle bars, so you want to keep those attached to the carton.

3) After cutting, the rest is up to you on how you want to decorate it. I would staple the handle bar ends together, with the flat side of the staple downward so it wont hurt your little one's hands.

End result: Here's my basket. I used different colored paper and glued it to the sides. I did random designs on each side. The fringes on top is because I don't like wasting paper. But yea this is just so you can get a basic idea, like I said decorating the basket is fun. It allows you to explore your own creativity and its a great project to work with your little ones. I know with the quarantine going on I miss my students, and I shared this project with them so I look forward to see what they come up with. So I wish you all a Happy Easter and as always drop some love in the comments .
